New Article #2- Netflix’s new idea to challenge Disney Plus

Summary: Netflix has signed a deal with Studio Ghibli recently. Studio Ghibli is Japan’s version of Disney, it has a status of making animated feature films. The chief content officer of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, has recently been boasting about an upcoming number of animated movies. He talked about one directed by Glen Keane (referred as “Disney Legend”). Netflix is planning to use animation films (maybe series) to challenge Disney Plus. Disney Plus had been booming in business ever since it launched. At the moment, Disney Plus claims it has 28.6 million subscribers.

Stakeholders: & how different people/organizations can be effected

• Netflix- (-) Disney Plus brought down Netflix’s shares by 5%
• Disney Plus- (+) Shares have increased by 12%. Many people enjoy more of their content
• Consumers- (+) They have more varieties of content to choose from
• Employees of Disney Plus- (+) They are getting a raise because of the constant improving status of Disney Plus.
• Employees of Netflix- (-) They face challenges to get better then Disney Plus

Personal Opinion:

I personally think that Netflix is facing hardships competing with Disney Plus. The Disney Industry had been around for almost 95 years; it has been enjoyed by the world for a long period of time. Most of the content on Disney Plus is classic, which many people enjoy watching. Disney Plus is also trying to take all of their content on Netflix off so consumers would subscribe to Disney Plus instead. I only use Netflix and I enjoy it but I haven’t subscribed to Disney Plus. I would like to try out Disney Plus based on their new and old movies/shows.
